Welcome to the website of the Bridewell Theatre Company The Bridewell Theatre Company was started in 1993 one year before its Artistic Director, Carol Metcalfe, founded the Bridewell Theatre in the City of London. For eleven years the Bridewell Theatre was the company’s home and it was there that it produced the shows that gave it an international reputation for the production and development of musical theatre. In 2005 the lovely swimming pool space ceased to operate as a professional theatre due to its landlord’s financial problems, although happily it is still used as a venue for amateur productions. The Bridewell Theatre Company however has continued and, with Carol Metcalfe and Matt Ryan at the helm, still leads the way in the fostering and development of new musical theatre.
